MOUNTAIN CRANBERRY/LINGONBERRY $7.95
MOUNTAIN CRANBERRY/LINGONBERRY $7.95 Vaccinium vitis idaea minus
Dainty and edible
Charming and rarely seen, this refined little glossy evergreen grows only 2-3 inches high with shiny leaves a third of an inch long. Intricate dense clusters of pink bells pop open in spring; Autumn brings edible and nutricious scarlet berries that are quite beautiful. (They are highly relished in Europe in pies and preserves.) Lingonberry spreads slowly sideways forming spectacular mats. It likes cool northern climates and does great in New England, Mich., Minn., Wis., coastal Long Island, Ny and perhaps high elevation areas elsewhere. We highly recommend this in those areas as something very different from all the common plants.
